We would like to present the 1953 one-hundred yen note all the way from Japan and yes Japan does have a lot calligraphy. The note is in Japanese with a little bit of English. It was issued by the Bank of Japan, which includes a red seal of the bank in the front of the note.⁣

The front of the note has an ornate industrial border with the number one hundred on each corner. The middle of the note shows the incredible detail of Japanese calligraphy because you can see the near prefect strokes that were taken to make each character. In the background of the calligraphy there is the number one hundred wrapped around neat flowers. To the left of that there are more industrial era decorations with the number one hundred in the foreground. On the right of the note there is a portrait of Count Itagaki Taisuke who was a prominent political and human rights leader in Japan who reformed a variety of organizations by combining the samurai ethos with western liberalism. ⁣

The reverse side of the note has an even more ornate industrial border with a large number one hundred on the left wrapped around on what looks like a decorative seal. To the right of that is a portrait of the National Diet Building in Tokyo where the sessions of House of Representatives and the House of Councilors take place. ⁣
