1954 five Peso note from the Bank of Mexico. The front and back of the note is described in Spanish, with the signatures of the treasury secretary and head of the Bank of Mexico.⁣

The front of the note presents one main image with a variety of patterns around it. The main image is of la gitana which means the gypsy in Spanish. I don’t really know why the Bank of Mexico put a portrait of a gypsy on the front and if you do know why please let me know. ⁣

The back also consists of one main image with ornate patterns and stamps around it. The image is of a monument called the Angel of Independence which is official known as the Monument to Independence. It is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city and is a mausoleum dedicated to the heroes of Mexico’s war of Independence. It has recently been a place of celebration and protest.⁣
